Absolutely not!  We welcome members of all ages as our events are aimed at broadening our membership and network of contacts.

What do you mean by 'communications'?
ACG's membership mainly consists of communications professionals from the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire areas.  However, the communications industry covers a wide range of professions including: PR, corporate communications, marketing, advertising, design, media, events and journalism.  We welcome anyone from the communications business community as well as students studying one of the relevant areas above, who want to make new contacts for personal and professional development.

Why should I join ACG?
Being a member of ACG allows you access to an extensive network of communications professionals across the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire region; discounted attendance at workshops, job specific training and events to support your personal and professional development; networking opportunities to meet fellow communications professionals and build relationships; an online directory of members’ contact details; notifications of communications vacancies in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, as well as events and webinars hosted by the CIPR and CIM.

ACG is continuing to grow at an astonishing rate, with now well over 200 members, which is the largest in the Group’s history.  The good mixture of backgrounds within the membership coupled with great events and a relaxed atmosphere always makes a great evening providing an opportunity to meet new business contacts/friends!

Who Runs ACG?
ACG was first established back in 1993 but industry professionals who identified a lack of event opportunities for communications professionals in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire areas.  Lauren Strachan is the Committee Chair and manages the day-to-day running of the Group as well as the Group’s future growth strategy.  Rita Brown is the Vice-Chair and assists Lauren with the day-to-day running of the Group and the events.  John Brown is the Treasurer and looks after the Group’s finances.  Lauren, Rita and John are supported by the rest of the committee consisting of: Andrew Spence, Catherine Shanks, Gina McLennan, Izzy Crawford, Leigh-Ann Rogie, Marie-Claire Jones, Sarah Coutts, Sarah Grieve, and Steph Asher.  We are always seeking members who feel they can bring something to the management of the group or the organisation of future events.  If you are interested in joining the committee we would like to hear from you.

How much does it cost to attend an event?
Tickets prices for an ACG event depend on the type of event and calibre of speaker/trainer, and ACC members receive a significant reduction in ticket price as part of their annual membership benefits.  Most ACG events cost £30 for non-members, £20 for ACG members and £10 for students.   ACG Ball tickets are priced higher than the standard ACG event ticket cost.
